Vape Batteries come in a range of sizes and are lithium ion or LI-ON. These can be removed and charged in a suitable charger or can be charged inside the device via the USB port. Its important to bear in mind the safety steps outlined in this guide as well as manufacturer guidelines. A vape battery can come in a range of sizes such as 18350, 18650 ,20700 and 21700. The first 2 digits are diameter in mm, the second pair of digits are the height in mm and the ‘0’ refers to the shape of the battery (its round). Battery safety is paramount when it comes to vaping. In this guide, we'll cover essential tips to ensure the safe usage of 18650 and 21700 vape batteries. Let's dive in!
A battery suitable for vaping will always be accompanied by a list of specifications. Making it easy to identify the capacity, amp rating and size. Some notable and trusted brands are Hohm tech, Vapcell, and Molicell. These companies specifically make batteries for vaping use and are often reviewed online with regards to the accuracy of their stated ratings.
The specs should include at least the following:
Its also important to regularly check your batteries over for any damage. This can include dents and scratches to the body of the battery itself. It will also include any tears in the battery wrap.
When looking for a suitable vape battery its also important to keep in mind what type of device you will be using the battery in. It could be a mechanical or unregulated device which does not feature any safety precautions. Or it may be a regulated device with a screen and chipset that has safety precautions built in. There are benefits to both types of device and using the correct battery will ensure a safe and enjoyable vaping experience.
Mechanical and unregulated devices have no safety features included. You must always make sure your batteries are suitable and that both the device and batteries are well maintained.
When using a mechanical/unregulated device, ensure the battery's amp rating (continuous discharge rating) can handle the device's power demands. See ohms law. Exceeding the battery's amp limit can lead to overheating, venting, or other safety hazards. Consult the manufacturer's guidelines or seek expert advice to determine the suitability of your battery for your specific device.
If in doubt contact one of our helpful customer service reps who will ask about your vape kit and recommend a suitable battery. With mechanical and unregulated vape mods in particular checking for dents and tears in the wrap is even more important! There are no safety features on these devices.
A regulated vape mod or box mod will have a chipset built in which allows you to have more control over the way you vape. The chipset also acts as an intermediary between the batteries and the tank or RDA. It will in most cases include safety features such as overheat protection and over use protections.
Regulated devices have built-in safety features that protect against excessive current draw or short circuits. However, it's still important to choose a battery with an appropriate amp rating. Refer to the device manual or manufacturer's recommendations to select the right battery for your regulated device.

Invest in a high-quality vape battery charger that's compatible with your specific battery type (18650 or 21700). Using the correct charger ensures proper charging voltage and current, reducing the risk of overcharging or damaging the battery. Avoid using generic chargers or chargers not designed for a vape battery.
A good vape battery charger will have a few key features:
Ensuring safety when using a vape battery charger is crucial to prevent accidents and extend the lifespan of your batteries. Here are some precautions to take:
By following these battery safety guidelines, including checking battery wraps and dents, understanding battery ratings, and using suitable chargers, you can ensure a safer vaping experience. Prioritizing battery safety is crucial for the longevity of your vape device and, most importantly, your personal well-being. Happy and safe vaping!
