Every vaper has at some point asked ‘’What is MTL and what is DTL vaping?’’ Luckily this guide will help answer that question for you. Once you have finished reading you should be fully informed on the style vaping you’re likely to enjoy most.
MTL or Mouth-to-lung vaping mimics the experience of smoking a cigarette. So how do you mouth to lung vape? You first draw the vapour into your mouth and then inhale it into your lungs, it’s a simple 2 step method that every smoker will use. MTL kits are ideal for 50/50 VG/PG mixes or salt nicotine eliquids. MTL vaping is very similar to smoking however there are a few small differences.
Mouth-to-Lung vaping is probably the most effective way to transition from smoking to vaping. It’s a familiar experience but with 95% less risk of illnesses and diseases cause by smoking. Vape kits suitable for this style of vaping are often low power, easy to maintain and discreet making them ideal for every day use.
Vape kits suitable for mouth to lung or mtl vaping often have a few things in common:
Choosing the right e-liquid for Mouth-to-Lung vaping is crucial for a satisfying experience. MTL vaping involves drawing the vapor into the mouth before inhaling, mimicking the sensation of smoking. Here are key considerations for selecting e-liquids suitable for MTL vaping:
Nicotine Salt E-Liquids: Opt for e-liquids containing nicotine salts. These provide a smoother throat hit and are absorbed more quickly, making them ideal for those transitioning from smoking to vaping.
Higher Nicotine Strengths: MTL vapers often prefer higher nicotine concentrations, typically ranging from 6mg to 18mg or even higher. This helps meet the cravings of former smokers and provides a more potent nicotine experience.
50/50 PG/VG Ratio: Look for e-liquids with a balanced Propylene Glycol (PG) to Vegetable Glycerin (VG) ratio, such as 50/50. This blend ensures a satisfying throat hit, enhances flavour, and works well with MTL devices.
Simple Flavours: Choose e-liquids with straightforward flavours that are not overly complex. Single-note flavours or classic profiles like tobacco, menthol, or fruit tend to work best for MTL vaping, delivering a clear and enjoyable taste.
Remember, personal preference plays a significant role in finding the perfect MTL e-liquid. Experiment with different flavours and nicotine strengths to discover what suits your taste and nicotine requirements. Ultimately, the right e-liquid enhances the MTL vaping experience, providing both satisfaction and enjoyment.
DTL or direct-to-lung vaping is how you get those huge clouds of vapour you may have seen pouring out car windows in traffic or in the high street. The exact opposite of mtl vaping! You take a direct inhale to your lungs at a slow and steady pace. The main thing to keep in mind is that you do not need to take intense or sharp inhales. Slow and steady wins the race. DTL vaping makes use of higher VG liquid, think 70VG and above. DTL vaping is a different concept to smoking or MTL vaping.
DTL vaping is a great way to enjoy huge clouds of flavourful thick vapor, if you are looking for something a bit more fun or are just over the cigarette habit and want to move on, this type of kit may be for you.
Vape kits ideal for DTL vaping are generally larger with a separate vape tank. However, a few common features are shared:
When it comes to Direct-to-Lung (DTL) vaping, where users inhale the vapour directly into their lungs, choosing the appropriate e-liquids is key to optimizing the experience. Here's a quick guide on what e-liquids are suitable for DTL vaping:
High VG Ratio: Opt for e-liquids with a higher Vegetable Glycerin (VG) content, typically in the range of 70% VG or higher. High VG ratios contribute to denser vapor production and smoother inhales.
Lower Nicotine Strengths: DTL vaping is associated with lower nicotine strengths, usually ranging from 0mg to 6mg. The emphasis is on enjoying the flavours and the act of vaping rather than satisfying high nicotine cravings.
Fruit, Dessert, and Custard Flavours: DTL vapers commonly gravitate towards bold and sweet flavours like fruits, desserts, and custards. These flavours complement the increased vapor production and enhance the overall vaping experience.
Remember to check device compatibility and follow manufacturer recommendations for both your vape device and chosen e-liquid. DTL vaping is all about enjoying flavourful clouds, so explore diverse e-liquid options to find the perfect match for your preferences.
Hopefully by now you should have an idea of whether MTL vaping or DTL vaping is for you. If you still have any questions please contact our friendly customer service team who will happily give you assistance. Be sure to check out the rest of our guides on all things vaping.
MTL vaping gives you a more traditional smoking experience. DTL vaping is like taking a deep breath whilst inhaling the vapour at the same time. Check out our related guide on MTL vs DTL Vaping.
For MTL vape kits you will generally use 50pg 50vg eliquids including nicotine salts.
For DTL vaping you will typically use the larger shortfill bottles which have a thicker 70vg 30pg ratio. Shortfill eliquids can be made up to 3mg with the use of nicotine shots.
Your vape kit will either use a pod system or a more traditional vape tank.
If you are using a pod system, there will be a small rubber bung which you can pop out to refill your eliquid.
If you are using a traditional tank the top cap will typically unscrew or fold open to reveal a fill port. Please always check your user manuals.
If you choose to go for a pod kit they will generally have a built in battery.
If your kit needs a separate battery such as an 18650 you will have to purchase them separately. Please make sure to check over a products specification to find out what battery you need.
